Plz Help With Lighting Questions..

Ok I have learned that my factory ballast that came with my tank are not upgradeable. The problem is that I do want to do some anemones and mabe later some corals. The other problem is that I dont have a clue where to even start on lighting. What I need is any suggestions on what I need to get. I would like to have many opinions. I would also very much like to have some pics of some types of set-ups. Basically I need all the info I can get. HELP PLEASE!!!!

Salty I would recommend using the search button at the upper right and put in Metal Halide, power compact (PC), VHO, T5. One at a time and you will probably get more info than you want. You can also google them and get lots of info. HTH

I just searched home depot for metal halide lighting. I see different types of bulbs. I am assuming that I am on the right path. First of all is there any hoods that fit the aquarium that you can put the halide bulbs in? Should I use the clear or white? What wattage for a 55 gallon? Can I just get a few metal halide floodlights and face them toward the aquarium>? HELP!

Not that I know everything but you CANNOT use hetal halide lights from Home Depot. They have to be lights specifically designed for aquarium use. Use the google search. And the search here.

do a google serch on mh lights.you can buy kits and make them your self-mogal socket- balast,some people use 2- 175 watt mh on a 55 gal.i use 1 -250 and some atinic for color,hope this helps,as far as home depot mh i dont think you want them,they are not made for aquarium use,good luck
