Polyfilter to remove copper

I'm done using copper and I did a 1/3 water change and put a polyfilter in my trickle filter and it turned dark grey. Do I rinse that out and put it back in or is it garbage. Do you just have to get more filters until all the copper is gone?

Fresh carbon will do a lot to get rid of copper, but copper is not that easy to get rid of. I assume you are concerned about adding inverts in a copper treated tank? Do water changes and use fresh copper [changing it 2X week] until all traces of copper is gone [using a copper kit to test].
