i was at the LFS today and saw a really nice rock with A LOT of polyps and was wondering if i needed to feed it anything or will it need anything special to get it. I know they are a beginner coral but i want to know the basics before gettting it. The rock had star and daisy and a nice patch of hair algae. I want to make sure if it really is daisy or star. How big are these polyps? i when i saw them they were 1 or 2 millimeters large, so i wasnt sure if what i was looking at was really polpys...

These are easy. They do not need to be fed anything special. Polyp size depends on many factors. My GSPs are small, but people I give frags to have luxuriant growth with big polyp sizes. Depends on water quality and what else is in the tank chemically and physically attacking it:p

LOL... It only took you a couple of hours to talk yourself into that. Good lighting and of course good water quality is all they need. One of my first purchases when starting to add live rock a few years ago was polyps. I didn't know much about lighting back then and they slowly dissolved away under 80 watts of light, one actinic and one white 50/50 standard NO bulbs. After getting VHO lamps and having a alk of 12-14 DKH I bought some more about 8 months ago, about a 4 inch section they have spread twice there size now and will look great when the cover the rock that I put them on.
