I have polyps that will not open. They have been in the tank for about a month and all of the sudden stopped opening. I saw these little clear looking bugs on it. Would they have something to do with it & if so what are they. i also added some star polyps right about the time that they stopped opening. They tank has been up since august.
My water Test:
PH 8.2
Cal 380
Nitrate & Nitrite 0
SG 1.025
Alk 1.7
Ammonia 0
Phosphate 0

Yes the bugs are whats causing it. If I were you I would do a freshwater dip or investigate into what exactly the bugs are and treat accordingly. The bugs are probably trying to eat the polyps and they are closing as a defense.

Unfortunatly there are alot of different types of coral eating pests, certain types of flat worms tend to be a very popular at doing this.

I did a freshwater dip and a lot of them fell of but how do I get rid of the rest of them. Because I am sure that they will start to attack the rest of the tank.

Probably some type of pod. Try the coral section and someone probably has had to do that. Ive had fun expelling the flatworms from my tank as they invade my mushrooms and block it from the lights at places. You may try some kind of fish or invert that enjoys eating the little pods, a mandarin or something like that. Try researching it and you may be able to find a way, Im sure youre not the first to have those.

I talked to lfs and he said he does not think that this is the problem. They closed up shortly after I put in the star polyps. Could this have anything to do with it. Everything else in the tank is doing fine.
