Pom Pom Crab missing anemones....

I've noticed over the past few days that my Pom Pom Crab no longer has anemones attached to the tips of its claws. The only change to the tank has been the addition of an Orange Spotted Filefish.
So my question is, will this crab survive without its "pom poms?"
Is it possible that the filefish ate them? She doesn't pick at any small aiptasia or majanos that are in the tank so I figured she's leave this guy alone too.

Can I still call it a pom pom crab?

itll be fine, the anenomes help aid in protection and gathering food. It can do those things without the anenome

The mini nems are probably still in the tank. Poms drop them when they molt. I bet in a week you will see your pom with poms again.

Thanks for the replies. It seems to be fine, and I figured it didn't really need the anemones. It actually hasn't molted in about a month, which is why I was curious as to why the nems were gone. Usually I'll see the molt and it's without the nems for a day or two, then they're back, not this time. I think if they were placed down, the file fish may have eaten them

I'm not really worried about the crabs survival, it still eats like a pig. If I was that concerned about it, I wouldn't have two pistol shrimp in the tank with it

i highly doubt the file fish ate it because of its strict acropora diet, (have you trained it to mysis shrimp) even if it eats mysis shrimp it probably wouldnt eat the anenomes.

It's fully converted, eats a wide variety of meaty prepared foods. I'm questioning whether it ate the nems or not because it does eat little aiptasia and majanos in the tank already.
