Pom Pom crab

If i find one can it be kept in a 5 with a small fish and corals like star polyps and mushrooms????

Hiya,
I would think so. I've had mine for several months now and he's moulted at least once. Hasn't gotten any bigger then a quarter.
I've almost got mine trained to come out on command. When I drop pellets in the tank for the shrimp and crabs, he'll come out and fight for one. Really the only time I see him, but I've got a 39 gallon. He took on an emerald more then twice his size for one! Must have stung the Emerald with his anemomies since it jumped back. You'll probably see him more in a 5 gallon.

Does yours have the actual anenomies in it's claws?? I got a pretty small one awhile back, and I see that he just walks around waving his claws in the air like a goon ball.... Where do they get their acutaly "pom Poms" from??:notsure:

Mine came with their pom poms. I've heard of others ripping parts of anenomies off so they have something to wave.

A LFS showed me one that lost his anemones. Several days later they had the same crab +anemones. The owner went on to explain about how he watched it grab an aptasia (he has an aptasia tank because he breeds berghias) and clip it down to size and used that. The one it made for its "off-hand" didnt look as nice. Pretty neat.

To me these are the coolest crabs. I have to get one next time swf has them in stock.
