Pond enclosure as sump....anyone?

Hi,
I am planning on expanding the effective water volume in my tank at the start of next year or so and was hoping for some ideas. I spotted this shallow pond enclosure that was 270 G and was thinking if it was worth adding it as a sump. (Going for a whole new tank seems an awful lot expensive). Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Jake.

If its 270gls. it cant be that shallow. Anyway, maybe short term but I would not trust it long term. Those things depend on backfill with dirt to support the sides from the presure and free standing Im just not sure. Maybe if you keep the water level low but then your loosing total volume of the system... :notsure:

what about the rubbermaid 300 gallon stock tank.....not sure if I am allowed to post a link here.... http://www.rubbermaidproducts.com/Me...99+Stock+Tanks
These must be rated to store water for a long long time....they promise it wont crack under the most extreme circumstances....what about that one? Its 25"high x 63 1/4"long x 69" wide.

I know...the pond idea was my first thought....especially since I could perhaps convert that into a mini lagoon .... the deeper the trough though the less fun that would be...the pond enclosure that I looked at was probably like 20 inches high but had a nice expanse to it...Also might put some rocks into it and place an anemone in there with a MH pendant hovering above.... so still thinking and dreaming about it....:)
