Just out of curiosity, how much ammonia if any does snail/hermit crab fecal material have. Would they be more like a cow and actually cause more benifits then harm?

Or am i just a overreactive nut talking about snail poop?

I wouldn't think much because its so small - but then again I never thought about snail poop in regards to tank conditions.
Makes one think? hmn..

You might try to add some true live sand if it bothers you. Get some good stuff from here, cycle it in a tote before adding to your tank. It will have a lot of critters in it that may have a taste for shite.

You're just an overactive nut.....join the club! If you do not have to feed the snails and crabs more than what was left over by the fish and would be there anyway rotting away on the sand then they hardly add anything to the bioload. The fish food on the bottom rotting would produce about the same amount of amonia whether it was processed by the crab or snail anyway. Lesley
