poor man's refugium

I know many of you probably consider it an unwise thing to do but I am considering creating a poor man's saltwater aquarium. Basically I am going to place a mangrove in a 10 gal aquarium and put in some live rock. I was thinking of putting it by the window sill since i live in arizona. Will this be enough light? eventually when i know more about how the water conditions vary i was thinking of putting in some hardy mushrooms or polyps, nothing too fancy or expensive. Ultimatly i would like to see how established i can get the aqaurium if it is at all possible. I know such a small aquarium can crash VERY quickly and so i am not putting in any fish. Any comments would be appreciated.

Setting it in a window sill for light is a bad idea. You will most likely kill anything in it with heat.

Gotta agree with Jimi. When I lived in AZ I cooked a goldfish when the sun hit the tank (for only an hour a day.) Even if you got the AC cranking, wherever that AZ sun touches gets scorched. Buying a chiller would negate the whole poor man thing.
