Porcipine Puffer Diet

Hi,
I just got a bunch of fish last week, and my new Puffer he has no appitite. He barely has eaten. I am dropping in cubes of brine shrimp. Any ideas?

Mine didn't even touch brine shrimp. You can try frozen shellfish like shrimps, mussels..,also if this doesn't work, try squid/ or small cuttlefishes....they go crazy for these. If none of the above works, then try to feed him live ghost/river shrimp.

My porcupine Puffer absolutely loves freeze dried krill, or shrimp. Its in a pink can and called Tetra jumbo shrimp freeze dried treat. Maybe try putting some garlic juice on it as well. kent has a product called garlic extreme that comes with a little dropper to make it easyfor u. Just a suggestion.:thinking:

Frozen krill and frozen squid (thawed.) Get them from the freezer at the LFS.

My porcupine puffer will only eat the tetra freeze dried jumbo shrimp. I got a larger container of freeze dried krill and he wouldn't eat it had to go to town and find some tetra freeze dried jumbo shrimp. He knows the difference, you can put both types of food in the tank and if he gets the krill he spits it out and tries another piece and when he get the shrimp he doesn't let it out.

that's weird....most puffers prefer frozen to freeze dried stuff.

my puffer eats like a pig he eats frozen brine frozen mysid he loves those and krill.The problem with this is he eats so much he has about a 1inc stomach every time i feed him is this bad or thats his nature:notsure:

I heard that feeding with the lights off helps. Wait about 30min after lights out and then try.
