Porclein Crab Losing Its Claws????HELP

Ok it is 1:24 in the morning and i am trying to acclimate some of my new nano reefs inhabitants. i just successfully acclimated a tiny clown, and then i acclimated the porclein crab. i was about to net him and put him in when all of the sudden his claws just shot off!! i think this is a defence like when lizards lose their tails. i hope. well please tell me if he will be ok?!

he should be ok. they filter feed with fanned appendages towards the mouth so he will still be able to eat fine. the claws are mostly a bluff to scare things away and are really quite weak. ours never uses them for anything but rolling hermit crabs away. do you have an anemone for him to hang out in?

No i do not have an anemone for him the store told me he would be ok with out one. he hides in the rocks most of the time anyway so i hope that will be ok for him the only other things in the tank are a small clown and a hermit to 2, so he has no predators in the tank. he is so cute so i hope he lives.

ours was fine without the anemone too but he tended to move around alot and hang out in diff spots for days on end. that was fine when he was out front but he would disappear behind rocks or in caves and we would never see him. since adding a bta he sticks to it like glue! its nice cus the anemone and him are right out front in full view and look wicked together.
