I don't know what I did wrong this time but my new porcupine puffer has ick. I am starting over after a outbreak of ick or some other parisite killed all my fish except my SFE a couple of months ago. After the outbreak I removed the eel and put him in my QT and treated him with hypo even though he showed no sings of infection. I left the tank empty for 5 weeks. I then reintroduced the SFE which is still doing good. I then bought a small porcupine puffer and put him in my QT for 2 1/2 weeks. I did not see any signs of ick so I added him to the display tank about 2 1/2 weeks ago. About 2 weeks ago I started to see a couple of spots on his fins from time to time. He has had a few run in's with the eel, nothing too serious but I have seen him puff up a few times because of the eel. This may be what started it. This outbreak is nothing like the last one, my tusk died a couple of weeks after the fist signs and all the fish except the eel stoped eating. This time I only see a few spots at a time then when they fall off and his fin is opaque in that area for a few days. He is still eating good, his eyes are clear and he is still active. I have been soaking his food in Garlic Xtreme but it keeps coming back. I hate to move him back to the QT because it has a Lunare Wrasse in it waiting to be moved to the main tank and it would just stress him further. Also I am afraid if I take him out and treat with hypo that when I put him back the eel will probably stress him out again and he would just come down with ick again. Should take him out and treat with hypo or just keep soaking his food in garlic and keep an eye on him to see if he will fight it off by himself and if so how long before I give up and treat with hypo. The tank is 150 gal, 175 lbs lr, 150 lbs ls, all the parameters are good. Thanks for any help.
