I am looking for everyones opinion on Porcupines Vs other puffers. My wife really wants a porky but I am not sure. I think I would prefer a golden puffer.

I love my porc. Have had it for at least a year and it is great to have. When it is hungary it goes crazy like a dog would and swims back and forth in the tank like crazy if I get up and go near the fridge. It is quite funny. You will need a 90 gallon or bigger for one.

I have had a striped dogface and a porc. puffer. My Porc. is still my favorite. He has such personality. The dogface was cool too...but I am a sucker for those big baby blues....

I've had my porc puffer(Spike) for almost a year now. He is like a puppy when he wants attention or food. My 5 year old loves him because when she comes to the tank, he follows her every move. He only wants to be hand fed and is very curious whenever I'm doing anything in the tank. Him and my foxface sleep in the same cave every night. He tries to be friends with every fish that I've ever put into the tank. Good luck!

Porcupine puffers are great fish, they are easy to keep, inexpensive, and are full of personality. Definitely a good fish to go with if you have the appropriate tank (size and tankmates) for one.
The golden puffer on the other hand is really expensive ($300-$400) and not one of the easiest to keep. However, it would be a very cool fish to center the tank around.

I went with a dog face, but I got a really pretty one, he looks more tan, than that dirty gray that I've seen recently. I just liked the longer look of the df than the rounder porky. But they are both great fish! It is so neat to feed them by hand every day.

my LFS for a porcupine puffer in yesterday that is near 20" long and huge! It dwarfs the show size queen angel in the same tank. Will try and go by there tonight or tomorrow and get a pic if it survived the transfer and is doing well.
