I purchased a porcupine puffer 6 days ago. He refuses to eat. Any suggestions? Thanks
It is very common for porcs to enter a food strike upon being moved to a new location. Live food is very effective. I would try gut loaded ghost shrimp (if they are not gut loaded there is not much nutritional value). Meaning drop an algae sheet for the shrimp to eat, and then feed them to your porc. This will most likely get him going. If not, there are some other more drastic alternatives to the point of force feeding. Might also try garlic, though I have not had much success with this, others have.

Mine wouldn't eat either for about a week. I finally tried soaking some silversides in garlic and then waving it in front of him. He just went nuts!!!! He started eating to the point I actually had to stop feeding him. That was the last time he ever went on a hunger strike. Within a week I was actually able to hand feed him. Good luck.
