Porcupine Puffer

Having had our 56 gal. reef tank for a while now, we have decided to start a fish only tank. We now have a 75 gal tank with a porcupine puffer. I decided to take a large snail and large hermit crab, that were knocking my corals off, and put them in the 75 gal. Well....I just realized that they are no longer in the tank. My puffer is small/medium, the crab and snail were pretty big otherwise I would not have put them in with the puffer. There is not even crunched up shell anywhere!! Is this normal?? Also, I was hoping for some advice as to which types of fish I should put with him.

There should be crunched up shell somewhere. The puffer either would have spat out the shell(s), or regurgitated them later. Puffer's jaws are incredibly powerful and he likely could have ate the hermits, but you should be seeing remains somewhere. The hermits could be in hiding.
