I just picked up a decent sized puffer for my 125 gal. It will not eat anything. I have tried frozen shrimp/fish and live feeder fish. It is staying extremely low when it swims in the tank.

how long have you had the puffer?
what elese is in the tank?
did you qt him/her?
what are your water parameters?

did you check your water ? what other fish are in the tank? sometimes it may take a couple of days to get it to eat.

the tank has been running for 6 months. There is a humma trigger and a yellow tang in the tank...they are both fine and have been living for months. I got the puffer on Tuesday night. It rests on the rocks sometimes and then swims like a puffer usually does.

My puffer rest on the bottom when he has ate a big meal. (Reminds me of a fat lazy dog _I think mine took a few days before he started eating. But now he eates from my hand... anything I give him. He also spits at me while he's waiting for his dinner!!!

my puffers rest on the bottom alot and i feed mine frozen krill but they will not eat it unless i put it on a skewers and move the shrimp around inches in front of there face

Thanks, it is starting to eat. Only at night though. I will just have to give it some time to get comfortable with its new surroundings
