Also, be careful when you identify what type setup you have. A fish only means just that. Only fish with no inverts, corals, live rock or live sand. If you have anemones, then your tank is no longer a FO. This is important to identify right off because the suggested treatment method will depend upon this information. In a FO tank, you can sometimes treat the fish in the main tank. However, if any other type of organisms live in the tank then you can not treat in the tank.

I also have live sand in my tank as well, also, will the lowering of the salinity affect my fish or my live sand, if it does, what then do you suggest I do

Since the bacteria in the live sand will remain, should I reduce my salinity 1.009, also how long do I need to do this for?
