I was thinking of doing some modifications to my biocube 14 from reading various threads and was wondering if anyone could lend some insight and let me know if these are all good ideas. Thanks in advanced!
1. instead of spending 10 bucks a month on the biocube filter cartridges, i'm going to buy some blue bonded filter pads and cut them into the same size as the cartridges and put them in the first chamber. (should I also put some live rock in the first chamber along with the filter pads?)
2. take out the bioballs, lay down 1-2 inch of live sand already in my in-tank fuge, put 2 lbs of live rock (lava rubble), a handful of chaeto on top of that and a submersible light. Then on top of all that where the grate is that the water from the first chamber passes into the second i'll put a purigen mesh bag.
3. Then in the first chamber I'll upgrade my pump and powerhead to increase the flow and increase the waves in my tank.
I think all of these would help me and was just wondering if they are all doable and I would be doing these correctly? Thank you so much for your help it has been the only reason why my tank is doing so well since this is my first tank!
