I just saw something on the chell of my med. hermit crab and serching on the internet is saw a vid. of a barnicle and it looks exactly like what is on the hermit. Just alot smaller. Thoughts?

Yeah it swipes for a while then goes back in. I've seen this on 3 of my hermits.

I have them in my corals...here is one. There are about 20 in this coral.

No on my hermit shell there are 4 feather dusters but there are also shell looking things with slits that a single waving feather comes out of and waves around before retracting.

Cool...I had a rock that came in when my tank was new that had huge ones on it.I positioned it so we could watch them. Unfortunately they did'nt make it through the new tank cycle. I think there are different kinds..but the ones in the coral I posted are similar.They bore into the coral, and they wave in and out like a barnacle.A feather duster does'nt wave the water column..it just goes in or out.
