Posting Pictures?

Ok, I feel like a moron, but I just purchase my first digital camera and I cannot figure out how to properly resize the pictures so I can post them on -line. Any tips?
The only software I have is that which came from Canon. It is Arcsoftware, PhotoImpression.
It has a resize function, but it just changes the actual l/w size and not the bit size. The pic is still 1.7mb.
Thanks for any help.

That is a scolymia (sp). My first coral that I bought two and a half years ago. It has grown like crazy. If you look close you can see some white tissue in the middle left and the top of the middle region where it was damaged and healed.
Here is another pic.

That last one was my frogspawn I have had for about a year and a half.
This one is a bubble I have had trouble with, but it is now comming back to life.

Thanks,
I have had this reef for 2 1/2 years roughly and I have just been able to show it off. I am still learing on the pics though. I still can not figure out how to focus in on the front center item, and not the entire image or the background.
