I just got a new set of catalina aquarium PCs for my 55 gal. It is a set of 4 -65 watt 50:50 bulbs. However they have no fans to cool them. I noticed you can order fans to put in them, but is it worth it or can i get away w/o them?
Also the moonlights have no switch and are always on, is this ok or should I get a timer for them?

You shouldn't need fans unless you have a problem with overheating. The lights can take alot more heat than people realize. But the cooler you keep them the longer they will last and it will also prolong the life of the ballast. But I probably wouldn't worry about that unless my tank was heating up.
