power head hook up

hello all, I have a in-line angstrom 2537 U.V. sterilizer. what I had powering it was a profile 600 powerhead. the power head broke.
here is how I had it hooked up
I had the power head in the tank drawing water, on the output side of the power head, I hooked up a 5/8 tube and ran it down to the sterilizer, from the sterilizer it went back to the tank. is this the way it is supost to run? or am I supost to pull the water through the sterilizer with the power head

I have never rum a UV ising a power head. Though I would have the power head suck the water through the pre filter then through the UV to the tank. I'd even add an inline activated carbon filter before the UV. The clearer the water to be treated by the UV the more effective it will of course be.

ok I think I got it you suck water through the UV instead of pumping to it when I get another power head I will add a in-line filter to help out
