Power head problems

as a newbie to the salt water scene I bought a 500 gph wave maker on Amazon it seems too powerful but I'm not really sure. If it is is there a way I can slow it down

How big is your tank. You want a lot of water movement in a saltwater tank. It helps keep the water oxygenated. In my 40 gallon I have 3 power heads in the 800 gph range. Two are wave makes that turn on and off at alternating times (2 min on 2 min off) and the other is just a regular power head (called a wave maker on amazon but it isn't). In my 125 I have 2 wavemakes at 1500 gph and 2, 800 gph power heads.
