power heads

Need to pick up a couple of power heads. Any recommendations on what brands are good...or bad? Also what is the best way to set them up in a 30g tank?

Thought about ZooMeds "Power Sweep" myself,maybe picking one up this weekend.They oscillate to help prevent dead spots.

Many, many have had problems with the Powersweeps, including myself. Naturally I bought TWO when they first came out, and now I can't give them away.
IMO Maxijets are the very best. Just in workmanship they stand alone. Pick up a 228 Powersweep, and then pick up a 1200 Maxijet! No comparison.

I completely agree with Hermit, have heard NOTHING good about the powersweeps. Maxi jets are the best.

MAXI JETS! These powerheads are excellent and even if they freeze due to malfunction they will not overheat plus they come with a meshed intake so no fish or inverts get sucked in and you dont have to rig it with foam media to prevent that. Got a 600 and a 900 in my fo aggressive and they are excellent. Next to these I would use hagens but only if I couldnt find the maxi jets. Excellent powerheads.

Hey guys whats the wrong with the powersweep,I have one for about 5 months and its working fine,
If you dont like it you can try the Aquaclear Hi-Spec.

My power sweeps are doing ok also. I have had them for 2 mos and other than occasionally having to give them a little push to keep them going.
If you do buy em get the 228s I can't imagine the littler ones working very well....

personally from my experiance(which isent that much) i like rios, there small in size but they pack a wallop, plus it takes in water from all sides of the caseing, so its not like 1 area will suck a fish and make it stick to it, there have been rummors(dont know weather there true or not) that rios have a tendancy to fail or to have trouble re-starting, but i havent had a problem with my 2 since i got them(about 5 months ago)

Alright, I'm sold on the maxi jets. They seem pretty cheap for how good everyone says they are. So if I get two, what size do you suggest for a 30g? I was thinking the 600.
