Power outages

I just recently moved to Tennessee and have a serious problem with our electric. ANY little storm or bad weather causes a power outage. If someone farts near the junction box, it goes out. If the sun comes out to early,....it goes out. Catch my drift?
My question: What do you do in cases like this? I survived 5 hurricanes in FL WITHOUT a single power outage. (Thank God) What sort of electric back up system is there?
Thanks.

I would shoot the person who farts...that eliminates 50% of the problem.
In reality, search the board for the same post...battery aeorators and stirring of the tank seem to be ok.(from what I've read)

Well #1 question is what happens if your not there and a neighbor breaks wind. I sugest a auto porwer supply that runs on dc. Then a generator for longer outages.
Thank you TVA for relying on water power.

Sounds like you need a generator, not just for your tank but for your fridge and some lights in the house. We have occassional outages that last for a couple of hours and there are no problems with the tank, but then we don't have the weather that y'all do in TN. There is someone on here who lives in MO who had the power go out for 5 days during a snow storm and they had losses in their tank.

I went to that one giant online store everyone knows about.....and purchased 4 battery powered air pumps, they include the airstones and everything. Got them for 5-8 each. If they power goes out I just pop them in and whamo air and circulation. The way I look at it is if the power is out for enough time that no lights on would be hurting the tank (3-4 days) my tank is probably the least of my worries.

Yes i was part of the power outage in MO we lost power for 6 days and I ran a genorator on my tank and that was it. Luckly I had no losses but I was very surprised because it got down to 45 degrees in the house but the lights and heater were able to keep my tank at a decent temp I think the lowest I got was 75 degrees. But yes the genorator is the best option for long term it saved my tank.

What about when the power goes out while you are at work? You are not there to set up a generator. You can have a bad day if the pumps for off for several hours.
