for keeping corals (not all) i use two 48" 220w total VHO's. Relatively inexpensive and can keep most everything but clams.

The best power strips are rated for device protection and wave length equalization, ac power fluctuates this is harder long term on devices operating on it. (for things like home stereo it can cause sound interference) I use a power strip rated for 20joules (supposedly for protection against lightening strikes feeding back through the strip) and gauranteed for up to $10,000 in damages to personal property. I paid $250 for one power strip.... ok so I went a little overboard. usually the el-cheapo powerstrips are fine I use them after the expensive one to divide up into more outlets. (you should see my wiring mess) if your plugging into a GFCI there isnt much reason to have them be GFCI rated powerstrips except as redundant priotection and more things to reset if you loose power.

True, If not you can get a GFCI outlet at HD or Lowes for about 15 bucks, wire it in the wall, then just use any power strip you like.

I love the ones that have switches to turn each outlet on and off. You can find them when looking for DJ equipment.

One more idea..
Tripp-Lite makes a metal power strip (aluminum) with nicely spaced outlets to accomodate wall adapters, etc. I use these on all of my tanks. I like them cuz you can get TONS of outlets... the ones I use have 12 outlets on them.
They come in different lengths with different outlet counts... the model numbers are something like ps3612, ps7224, etc. If you find their web site you may be able to dig them up.

lol i just ordered the single coralife strip a couple days ago....i hope they are only problems if they are the dual one. also you can get a GFCI outlet that plugs into a regular outlet from lowes for $10+tax that way no wiring needed.

I got one from Target a couple of weeks ago...I am at work so I don't know the name, but it is a yellow power strip and I believe was rated to be used outside and inside.
I only mention this becasue the the 2 outlets on the outside of the strips are spaced further apart so it is perfect for putting a timer in one of those outlets and it doesn't block the other outlets.
I hope this helped,
Chris
