Do any of you use the powersweep power heads? Are they reliable or would I be better off using a wave maker and some Hagen or penguin powerheads? How do the powerheads handle the on / off cycle does it decrease the life of the powerhead?

I have used several Power Sweeps in the past, and am now down to one. I shouldn't be saying this, the gods above might be watching...Here comes a lawsuit. They, in my opinion, aren't very reliable. They keep pumping, but stop rotating frequently. Some say it's due to not using the pre-filters. That's BS. I use the pre-filters, and still have to clean them once every two weeks, at least, to keep them rotating. I would go with the other powerheads and a wavemaker, myself. Some say that the wavemakers are hard on powerheads, but I have used a Tsunami for a while on powerheads that are more than 5 years old, with no problems. Just make sure the wavemaker has a "soft start" feature, so it doesn't slam the powerheads off and on. HTH
