Hey everyone, I just bought my first anemone (after waiting about a year for my tank to be fully established and after reading a alot) anyways with in a weeks I lost my anemone to the darn powerhear
So how do you guys keep your anemones away from the powerheads? I have my rock set up so it doesn't really touch the glass, but I guess my anemone had a long reach then I though. So any help would be great; i really want a BTA (my clown hosted my other one the first day i brought it home)

You need to place a sponge over the intake. LFS sell them and usually long enough for 2.

I wonder if a DIY solution would be to get piece of filter foam, cut a piece, and put it into the strainer-cup of the power-head? Any thoughts?

I've tried many things, like sponges, making a plastic grid mesh basket (ugly), plastic cylindars...
Best thing I've found is when you build your system is to plan to go without powerheads. That is to find a way to eliminate them like having your return water be channled through a spray bar, just make sure that your return pump can offer good flow throughout the whole spraybar. I use a modular spraybar that you can direct the nozzles on. I still have to use one powerhead though, and only once if 5 years have I had an anemone crawl on it. And I have about 18 anemones in the tank.

Thats what I do Thomas, and I was wondering if I could add a second return pump in my wet/dry so that I could have a second outlet for increased circulation. I'm not having any issues now but I'd like get my xenia blowing in a different direction than my anemone. If I just take into account the overflow box's GPH then can't I just add a second pump with plumbing?

OK thanks for the imput. I'm gonna have to try mesh or sponges or something because i don't have any other form of circulation besides my skimmer and PHs (no return)
