powerhead issues.......

Has anyone had issues with their invert, i.e., snails, shrimp, etc., etc., getting caught in the intake of their powerheads. I keep having to pull out my snails and hermits out of my intakes. Both, my pep and cleaner shrimp, (rest their souls,
) have fallen victim to these intakes. Any suggestions anyone? Thanks

The ph's did come with a spongy looking attachment for the intake, but the damn thing was so big, it took up sooooo much space!
Any other suggestions that might be used to keep out my inverts?
thanks

I had the same problem in my 55. Here's what you do. Measure the diameter of your inlet. Go to your lfs and buy that size rigid plastic tubing. Cut the tubing to about 3-4" long. Drill several 1/4" (about 10) holes in the tubing (for the water to flow into). This way, all of the "sucking" power is not coming from one area...it's spread out over 10 different areas (holes) and there is not enough power there for anything to get sucked/stuck to. Try it, it works great and it only cost about 3 bucks.
