This week im heading to the LFS to get some powerheads and a wavemaker. Can anyone give me a idea of what strength, number of powerheads and where should i place them for a 120 gallon tank? Im more confused on the strength.
I think it's 8-10 times gph your tank size. 100 gal tank = 800 - 1000 gph.
I have two Hagen 802's. The suction cup are crap, not strong enough for the weight of the unit. You may want to go another direction there. I have power sweep 228. Total junk.
I bought them in Lancaster, speaking of which, I was there on Sat prepaired to buy some livestock, needless to say, I didn't. I have never seen a poorer selection of corals or fish. Not that their wasn't enough, it was all sickly!
It seems like they have good weeks and then really really bad weeks with there livestock. Im prolly heading down saturday, maybe, if the wife lets me Im telling ya man order online
Once I can afford it again I will!
I had to go there to get dry goods and thought while I was there I may as well get some live stock.
My next project is to replace this scratched up p.o.s. 150 with a new 150. Probably by spring <sigh>
