Powerhead positioning

I was just wondering the best way to position my power head. Should it be on the side of the tank pointing towards the rocks? Or back of the tank pointing at the sides? Im just not sure where and how I should position it! Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Too many variables for a direct answer, so much depends on other equipment corals, etc. But you want the entire tank to get water flow and the surface to get agitated (to help gas exchange).

I dont have any corals, i plan to make it a FOWLR tank. Right now there is only a bunch of snails, a few hermits, a brittle and a cleaner shrimp. Its only a 29 gallon tank so it shouldn't be too hard to find the right position to keep good water flow. I wasn't aware of keeping the surface agitated, so thank you for that! I will have to move it up a little bit. I only have a basic "over the back" type of filter though, so it does agitate the surface that way.

Then the PH can go where it can cover the most area, consider the tank bottom too---it will help keep suspended crud from settling so your filter can get it.

I had it towards the bottom originally, but when i woke up in the morning it had pushed a good portion of my sand all to one side so I had to raise it.

I like mine on the side pointing a little up to hit the surface. If not you get this surface slim. For that reason and gas exchange is why I have mine. Then I have another one pointing lower across the floor not down for the same reason you said what happens
