powerhead question

I am running 2 zoomed 228's self rotating powerheads, my question is where is the best place to put them -- high towards the water line or about halfway down? i have a 36g bowfront i have them half way down right now blowing across my LR it is still cycling right now. Is this ok? and should i add 1 more?

However you have them there should be some surface agitation for gas exchange.
Standard postision is to have a couple of them top rear corner pointing to the front middle of tank, since yours rotate it should be nice.

A note on the Zoomeds. Keep them cleaned regularly or they won't sweep. I junked mine because I got tired of the constant maintenance.
I agree with Thomas as far as placement. You want good surface agitation, and as much turbulence in the water as possible. Having the two pumps sweep into each other occasionally would be a good setup IMO.
And if/when you get tired of jump starting the Zoos back up, Maxi-Jets are good reliable pumps with a low price and are much smaller than the Zoomeds with higher output.
