Powerhead stinks

Every week I pull out a PH to use for a waterchange, and each time it smells like rotten eggs. Nothing else smells, just the PH. Anyone ever have this problem?

Maybe a good cleaning will do the trick?

LOL. This sounds familiar. It could be some type of algae growth visible or not visible. I went through a hair algae bloom that covered the top of my powerhead. Boy did they stink when I took them out. The smell stayed in my nose for the whole day. It's was as bad as the skimmate.
