Can anyone suggest what powerheads I should use for the 29g reef tank I'm setting up? I am new to this. I'm going to get a small skimmer also. A friend suggested two Maxijet 900's. Is that enough/too much/ bad choice?
Thanks

The MJ 900's are a very good choice, they use much elcectricity than the 1200. A very reliable power head. On line prices are almost half what LFS charges so shop on line for them.

Sure there is a difference of 65 gph between the 1200 and 900 but its still a good flow and you save on the electricity in the long run. I always like to suggest one extra for emergancy's or for mixing new saltwater.

So in your case 2 MJ 900 would = 460gph on a 29 gallon tank. This will give you a turn over rate of 15.86 not bad at all.
