powerhead venturi

I know I've seen this question dealt with before, but I can't seem to find it in a search.
I have a 300gph powerhead in my 90g. The powerhead has a venturi valve which intoduces air into the powerhead water flow (with the valve open, the powerhead produces alot of very small bubbles...almost a mist).
Should I be running this with the venturi open??
I haven't been because it's much noisier with the venturi open...but I'm thinking the venturi must be there for a reason.
I'm interested in getting a naso tang and want to make sure the water is properly oxygenated.
Thanks.

Does it go on a UGF? Normally you would not need the venturi open if there's sufficent oxygen. And I don't know what else you have to answer that. Venturis are on PH's for UGF mainly. They also will add "that extra air" if you want. But beware of salt creep. i would leave it off. Just make sure there's other means of oxygen.

Thanks.
It's not on a UGF, it's strictly there for circulation. In addition to the powerhead I have an emperor 400 powerfilter, remora pro hang-on skimmer, and a second small powerhead on the bottom blowing across the sandbed.

If it is just for circulation then it is NOT needed. They are on there for use with skimmers. But those bubbles in a salt tank really cause more trouble than they are worth.I would just remove the hose and run it with out the air. That is how all of mine are.
