powerhead

I just lost my 2 new seahorses to the suction under my Rio powerhead! How can I protect future horses from this? The intake area of the pump was facing down. I have now placed it toward the back of the tank. I had tried wrapping a filter pouch around it, but it clogs quickly. I want to try horses again, but not until it is safe!

The sponges that I have on my powerhead intake and the siphons on my filters seem to be working great. And as an added benefit, they're also mini-havens for pods to procreate. I often find my horses hunting successfully on them. I found mine at a LFS, cut them to size and slipped them on...no muss, no fuss, and they work great.

Sponges are a must for my dwarf seahorses. I have never used sponges until Bronco300 reintroduced me to their usefulness when I got his dwarf seahorses
