powerheads

I have a 55gal FOLR tank now 6-8 weeks with a Fluval300 series and 1 powerhead that is on the fritz. Any recommendations on 1 or 2 or 3 powerheads for my system. I have a problem with red slime algae but the one powerhead improved the flow and my "janitor" reef package is do a great job. I would like to order from here. I just don't know the recommended GPH recommendations for my system. Any feedback?

I tend to shoot for about 10x the size of your tank for the total water movement between your filters and powerheads. For you that should be ~550 gallons/hr. Check your individual components for their flow rates and add them together.

I have about an 18 - 20x turnover, but, I did this because of corals, your needs may be different. heres a link to a thread that may give you some thoughts...
