finally got my ph today. this is a dumb ? but i have to ask. i am only going to use them for water movement. on the picture it shows a long clear tube coming from the stem adapter, do i need that? <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" />

The long tube is to introduce air into the water and you don't need it if you have a good skimmer. But use it if you want the extra airation, or like the bubbles.

Hi Peg.... There is no such thing as a dumb question.... That clear tube you are seeing in the piocture is an uplift tube from an undergravel filter plate.... If you are just using it for water movement then don't let that picture throw you off... Good luck... As far as questions go,,,Ask away...

good thing there are no dumb questions because here I go. I thought the only purpose of a ph was for water movement why else do you use them?

Ive seen them used for undergravel filters instead of pump tube and airstones
