powerheads

do they slowly wear out? I have one and its been putting out less and less current since the day I got it (only in december)...
Ive cleaned it numerous times, but it doesnt seem to help...
although, since Ive added on that "filter tube" that fits around the intake, the output has not been the same... does the filter piece not allow enough water through to the ph?

any retriction will effect the out flow. The prefilter I am sure is doing it. Why did you place the prefilter on. Is it a foam prefilter or just a screen?
