How have you placed your powerheads? I have an empty Magnum filter agitating the surface, and three other PH's placed at varying depths - trying not to create a whirlpool effect...170gph, 295gph and a 550 PH (not sure of GPH).
It is good to place one near the top to create a ripple affect. Then I would just place the others around so you have current all over the place. Like maybe one half way down pointing to the middle of the tank and then another one even lower. I hope this helps.
what i did was point them to the center of the tank,i have 2 powerheads, one on each corner shooting against eachother making a "V" type of movement in the water
