Powerheads?

Do I need powerheads in my tank? It is a fish only tank for now and my emporor 400 seems to circulate the water very well. What is the use for powerheads?

Saltwater fish are use to high currents in the ocean so the purpose of the ph is just to provide a current. I would add atleast 2 power heads to you tank.

The use of powerheads even in a fish only tank is for circulation, this will help in keeping dutris in suspension and prevent any dead spots in your tank. They can also assist in gas exchange, oxegenating the water, breaking up the film/slime that forms on the water surface. It's also cute when you see one of your fish likes to swim against the current and do it over and over again.
