Powerheads

Are powerheads a must? My filter is good to 50 gallon tank. Do I still need one?

yea i would, and its good for corals and the like to have them, plus alot of fish like percs love to swim into the current, at least mine do.

Most of the oxygen that is introduced into the tank occours at the surface of the water. A powerhead placed low in the tank will push the water around the tank such that all the water will eventually make it to the top. I'd recommend a maxi-jet 900.

Don't the powerheads make tons of tiny bubbles? I havw 2 Aquaclear 301 powerheads from the last time I had my tank set up and they made lots of bubbles..

don't use the air tube and you will not get as many bubbles, b ut other than that you can probably expect a little bit.
