Preparing for Anemone

I was thinking about buying a anemone within the next few months and I wanted to know everything that I needed to know to get one. Right now my lighting is just standard lighting that came with my tank. I have around 250 GPH from my powerheads (was planning on getting a couple more). My tank has been cycling for about 3 and a half months now, so I think that I am almost ready. Any advice would be apreciated. Thanks!

im pretty sure that they say to wait several months before adding a anenome to ur tank, they require alot of light the regular light that comes with ur tank will not be enough.

What kind of lighting should I get to support it?

You will need at least a moderate stock of fish in the tank for 5 to 6 months before adding anenome to tank. Also t-5 lights or better.

befor i go saing what kind of light you should be getting i would have to ask how deep is your tank...i wouldnt put T5s on anything deeper then 18" VHOs for anything 24" or less, and MH for anything over 24"...MH come in a wide range of watts though the higher the watts the deeper it penatrates...and dont think just becuase you see light in a area or that becuase T5s are really bright for there wattage it means they are better. its like saing i can put standard light bulbs from my house and put alot over my tank and its the brightest tank ive ever seen that corals will grow...its not true at all

Not sure I agree with that I have a friend of mine that has a 72 gal bow front. Height is 22" hes got a 6 light fixture HO-t5 lighting total 324 watts. RBTA, Croeca clam on the SB, multiple corals some sps. Tank has been set up for a couple years now. Anem and clam have been in over a year no issues everything is growing well and healthy. JME

im not a big T5 lover as im sure you can tell...im just saing if your going to spend the money buy better...with T5s you have to use alot more bulbs and you have to replace those bulbs with time it might be more cost effective to get the MH and put 1,2 or 3 over the tank depinding on the size of the tank..IMO it still matters on the tank and its size
PS. sorry to hear about your puppy....we lost our little dog about 3 weeks ago and found him like 2 weeks ago...we missed him greatly heres a pic of him
