I am setting up a tank to eventually put seahorses in, What are some no-nos? Heaters? Corals? Mushrooms? Soft Corals? ( I want to get a yellow toadstool) Im guessing they dont need a strong flow... Do they mingle well with other fish? If so what kind or better yet which ones would be a no?

We have a 29 gal set up right now. Thats what they will go into. I would like to have at least 2 Not sure if Im gonna go for mating pairs or not. What do I do with all the babies?? Guess it really depends on how often they mate. But I will get to reading then asking

Alrighty I have read it all :) And even looked at the compatability chart. Excellent! ?'s Hitches.... Do I need specific tubular things or will rock work be fine and some plants? I have attached a picture of what the tank looks like right now. It will be a while b4 I add any seahorses. Dory is in here to get away from our very mean bi-color blenny! Also our tank is 29 gal Bio cube.. I know I know some dont like the bio cubes but its what we got
It has one small power head, should I get another with a spray bar of some sort??

Is that a heater in there. You can take that out since horse tanks need to be 74 degrees or lower.
What size and brand of powerhead is that? be sure to cover it in some way to prevent little tails getting caught.
Is there anyway to attach a spray bar to the back where the return is ?? that would give you a nice gental flow.
For hitches, you will need plants, gorgoians or something fake, like fake corals or plants. You will need them in several places for the horses to hide and or hitch. They have to be able to get thier tails around it.
Oh ya, where do you live?? you can always get two females and not have to worry about babies until you are comfortable and decide its time to upgrade. heheheheeeee

We are in upper alabama, there is a heater in there now trying and working well to recover the blue hippo thats in there. It will come out when I get the seahorses the tank runs about 76 without it. I have a small nano power head in there and then there is the return that is positonable on the tank. I am trying to find a spray bar that will attach. My local fish guy said that spray bars are junk so I wasnt able to find one there, Im gonna look at petsmart soon. and I will work on getting the right types of plants too ;) Do you think I still need to cover the nano power head?

Just read your thread. I have 2 nano's in my 29g tank and I just got my first pair of Erectus horses. Even the nano's blew my poor guys around the tank so I have them both off. They are so small that I'm sure there tails could fit and get caught,as well as them getting sucked up against the intake if the powerheads. They are not very strong swimmers. As for the spray bars, my husband made me a spray bar out of 1/2 inch PVC pipe and it fit perfectly on my return and for now I am hoping that will be enough flow in the tank.

Personally, I think that if you are going to put any seahorses in that tank, you are going to need to run a chiller. I just think that they get too warm without one for seahorses.
