Princess Aurora

One gift, beauty rare,
Gold of sunshine in her hair,
Lips that shame the red, red rose,
She'll walk in springtime wherever she goes!
One gift, the gift of song,
Melody your whole life long!
The nightingale her troubadour,
Bringing his sweet serenade to her door.
My goodness!!! I thought I had a princess syndrome!! For the past couple days Aurora has been ignoring her plastic food dish. I had been using a white ceramic salsa dish, but I decided that the clear plastic dish looked better since it blended into the scenery.
Aurora hasn't eaten in the plastic dish for 4-5 days. She'll look down in the dish, but won't go down to eat. I know, by watching, she's been getting enough food...but I'd feel much better if she'd go back to eating from the dish. Then I'd know how much she consumed.
Last night it occurred to me that I had changed the food dishes. Now why in the world would a fish reject one dish to the other. So, this morning I removed the plastic dish. This action brought Aurora swimming over to inspect. As the food was thawing, I put the clean ceramic dish in the tank. Aurora imeadiatley swam down and hitched to the side of the dish and peered in. She looked up...
where's the mysis? I got the turkey baster and added the mysis to the dish. She dove right in.

No problem at all. That's why we're all here
Lisa(MonaLisa) was the one who came up with this simple design. I had not been able to keep the mysis in either until Lisa showed me how she does it.
You need to hold the dish down with a rock, or use a ceramic dish. Then take a turkey baster and suck up all the food into the tube. After sucking up all the liquid and mysis into the baster, hold the baster vertically as you place it into the tank. Any slight angle left or right will cause the food to escape into the tank. When you get the tip into the food dish, slowly squirt the food into the dish...very slowly. Make sure the food dish is turned away from the flow/or turn the filter off. I tip mine at an angle, and have a few branches hanging near the dish for hitching posts.
Oh, I also add garlic food enhancer to the mysis before feeding. It really helps the immune system. And some how that smell is irresistable to fish.
