Prizm Help

Just got my prizm and I don't know what's going on. I was able to prime and get the flow going and it is very quiet. However, when I switch the rubber tube to the hose barb the noise does pick up but collection cup fills with water and the normal suds. Is this suppose to happen, because I thought it would just allow bubbles to enter the collection cup. Also, it seems as though the directions have the priming plug and hose barb mislabled. Thanks.

The primer is the outermost barb and the air barb is adjacent to this, on the right of the primer.
To begin using the skimmer, close the water intake valve completely. Let it run like this for 24hrs. If you are not getting skimmate, then twick it very slightly a notch open. Continue this process every 24-hrs until you get the desired skimmate.
The collection cup is not supposed to fill up with water. This means that the water value is open too much.
My pirzm was noisy for a long time. The noise improved when I got Red Sea's replacement 18-pin impeller. However, for some reason, when I put the prizm on my reef tank, it became noiseless and skims a lot better than it ever did on a FO.

Thanks Beth. Just to make sure, when I look at the prizm from the front of the tank the barb on the outside is closed (primer)and the inside is open (hose barb). So, I started on the outside to prime then switch to the inside for the bubbles. I did work the flow to control the in tank bubbles. This may have been to late and caused the build up of water. Does this sound like I was on the right track? I assume skimmate is the same as scum? Thanks and sorry for asking the same question.

When I have the flow valve closed when first starting should I leave it in the prime position for the 24 hours, or should I switch it right after prime. Thanks again.
