Prizm impeller question

Ok, I just got the new impeller from RedSea. It's actually the same one that I had, I didn't realize that when I ordered it!! Anyways, I changed it to the new one but now the skimmer won't work. It starts up but doesn't suck up any water any more. Also when I take the "energizer" off the skimmer and turn it on, it "jumps" a lot..Basically, it won't stay put and spin! It's making a noise like it's jumping when it's on the prizm! Is there anything that I can do to fix it? Thanks

The skimmer will pull water when the air hose is put on the solid

. (I just pinch it so it wont suck air). Open the gate all the way. That should do it.
The spinning thing could be a problem. Did you lose the rubber caps that go on the end of the shaft? Or maybe it's stuck up in the hole cocked to one side or something and the shaft didn't go in right.

I had this identical scenario happen to me.
Red Sea sent me an ENTIRE PUMP, from the ac plug to the motor and housing (basically everything black) for free without even asking for the old one back. It worked.
They must have a magnetic casing on the impeller housing that gets demagnetized or something causing the housing to bop up and down in the motor chamber. Give them a call...

AWESOME!!! I'm going to give them a call in a little bit. I wrote them an email over the weekend, so i'll probably hear back from them shortly anyways. They seem real nice in their past emails. This is funny...I actually came on here to research other skimmers cause i thought mine was trash!

the sad thing is...is that I wanted the 12 pin impeller...but that's what I had!! I just decided to put on a new one...bad idea i guess...if it aint broke...don't fix it!

They didn't send you the 18 blade impeller?

hmmm..i never counted it...i assumed it was 12cause i thouhgt thats what i remember reading somewhere...whatever it was,it was the same as what i had.

Yeah- mine was noisey, and i was told that the 18 would be queter so i called and they sent me an 18 for free in the mail-- went to change it out and realized i allready had the 18!
