Prizm problems

Since I put the prizm in the sump a couple of days ago, its been intermittant. It flows for 5 minutes then stops. It flowed all night last night, this morning it stopped. Strainer is well below water level. Bad pump maybe? I really don't need to be checking this thing every hour to make sure it's working. I've e-mailed Red Sea but they haven't responded (surprise, right?).

If it totally stops flowing water I'd have to say its a prob a bad pump. I do know that skimmers do have a "break in" period of a couple days though. They will work much better after they are broke in. But it sounds like yours isnt working at all?

Yeah, it just stops. I've had it for over two years, and worked fine until I put it in the sump.

maybe just try to prime it again

I figured it out. The overflow tube was emptying directly underneath the skimmer tube. Air was being sucked into the skimmer and when it had too much air, the tube emptied (lost its siphon I guess) and stopped working. Moved the overflow tube and it's been working for over 6 hours now.
