Prizm Protein Skimmer

I purchased one for my 25 gallon aquarium last Thursday (boy, they're loud). I hooked it up Saturday and it had a lot of foam form up and it skimmed a lot of stuff off (boy it stinks). But, it stopped skimming. So I cleaned it (Like the manual says to) then put it back it. In looked like it worked for a few, but now it's not skimming. There are bubbles in there, just not overflowing into the trap. Is it because my tank is clean? Any help sure would be appreciated.

it is still skimmiing there just isn't alot for it to skim. As long as it has bubbles creating foam and water is coming out the overflow going back to the tank then it is working. skimmers do not produce an equal amount of junk in the collection cup at all times. sometimes I will not have to empty my prizm for a week and then the next week I will empty it twice. Just make sure you set the flow so that the foam line under the collection cup is just over the O-ring. Setting it too high and you will get many cups of tank water in your collection cup.

I have one on my 55gal and it works great.It is very quite.The trick is to adjust the valve just right so you dont get clean foam.

Cool. Mine is working GREAT now. My nitrates are still about 15ppm, but it's time for a water change this weekend. Tank hasn't looked better. The inverts and mushrooms are just looking stunning.

Check your impeller to see the # of pins. You may have gotten the older impeller that tends to be more noisy. If so, call Red Sea and they will send you a upgrade for free.

Hi Beth-I have a question, how many pins should there be on the impeller? I tried adjusting the valve but it still continues to make noise. i just bought this thing in November...thanks for your help!
