How often are you guys breaking down & cleaning your prizm skimmers? I've had mine about three months and i think its time.

I have done my inlet tube three times in the last couple of months and of course the collection cup when I see it getting half full other then that unlike my power pumps I have not yet decided that I should pull it completely apart. I am one of those who hate to fool with something working well other then general maintenance.

other than the collection cup, I haven't touched my prism at all. Have had it up and running since these guys first hit the market.

I decided to remove and clean the inlet tube and collection cup. They were both pretty nasty. Now i'm just not getting much skimmate. I guess it will take to produce junk like when i first set it up. Now at least i feel better that its clean. :)
I agree with you puffer, i don't like to screw around with equiptment that is working well. But i had alot of algea build up on the return chute and intake tube, and it bothered me.

I agree in that the inlet does get very cruddy as does the cup so I do the inlet about once a month and the cup when it gets half ull (about every 9-10 days or so). Mine takes a day or so and then it starts foaming over the top again (this is on my 58 full reef tank). I do like this skimmer, for the money I think it is great. I do like hang on stuff and that limits me a bit more then you members who are into sumps and the like.
